Based in Lower Hutt, Stefan from Crates and Stones creates handmade wooden crates. He offers a four-bottle crate and two different types of two-bottle crates that look brilliant for wine bottles as well. They are handmade from very light cedarwood with a smooth organic oil/wax finish. Stefan from Crates and Stones makes handmade wooden milk bottle crates and some other pieces of wooden furniture. The idea of these crates was born to solve a problem they had. Stefan and his family usually buy milk at their local weekend market in refillable glass bottles. It’s always been a hassle to take the bottles back home in a shopping bag, and then where do you store the empty bottles safely before the next market day? During the Covid-19 lockdown, his daughter came up with the idea to make a wooden milk bottle crate, that solves the storage and shopping issues. Being a trained cabinet maker Stefan supported her in design and making. After a few prototypes, they locked in the best design and friends and neighbours started placing orders! The crates come in two sizes, 2 bottles or 4 bottles, and work just as well for wine bottles. All crates are handmade from very light cedar wood with a smooth organic oil/wax finish.
